The complete countercurrent extraction tank (mixing and settling tank) equipment provided by our company is based on the traditional box-type extraction tank widely used in the field of hydrometallurgy, and combined with the actual situation of customers, it has formed its own unique structure. The body of the extraction tank mainly includes two parts: a mixing chamber and a clarification chamber. The mixing chamber is composed of the bottom front chamber (submerged chamber), the upper mixing chamber, and the vortex baffle, and the clarification chamber is composed of deflectors, grid plates, light phase weirs, heavy phase weirs (interface regulators), cover plates, etc. composition.

1. Equipment size

For the integral molding (integral milling of block material) process extraction tank (mixing and settling tank), the volume of the mixing chamber is 120mL~1000mL, and our company can process it.

2. Equipment material

Transparent plexiglass (PMMA) extraction tank and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) extraction tank can be processed by our company, and customers can choose independently.

From the perspective of observation of experimental phenomena: the plexiglass extraction tank is transparent throughout, without variegated interference, high transparency, and large observable area and area; the polytetrafluoroethylene extraction tank can be equipped with tempered glass observation windows on the side of the clarification chamber as required , can be observed for the position of the phase interface, the effect of clarification and delamination, and whether there is an emulsified third phase.

From the perspective of corrosion resistance, PTFE can withstand the corrosion of all inorganic acids, alkalis and most organic substances in the field of hydrometallurgy, that is, it is suitable for extraction systems in all fields of hydrometallurgy. For the extraction and separation of common nickel, cobalt, manganese, copper, lithium, indium, rare earth and other elements, plexiglass extraction tanks are used by customers, but for TBP system and other organic phases with high polarity (such as ethyl acetate , acetone, dichloromethane, chloroform, etc.) intolerance.

From the perspective of material toughness, PTFE has better toughness. In case of impact such as knocking and falling, transparent PMMA material is more likely to crack.

Therefore, no one material is perfect, and the customer must consider the choice in combination with the properties of the material liquid and actual needs.

 

1. Equipment processing technology

Whether it is a transparent plexiglass (PMMA) material extraction tank or a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) material extraction tank, both adopt the overall body forming (block material overall milling, that is, mechanical processing) process.

There are two types of overall molding process for the extraction tank body: injection molding and block milling (machining).

(1) Injection molding process

Combined with customer feedback, the following problems generally exist in the injection molding process extraction tank:

① Easy to swell and deform. Injection molding requires resin particles of corresponding materials, melted at high temperature, then injected into the mold, and cooled to form. The commonly used extruded sheet, the pressure given to the material during the material forming process is much greater than the injection molding process, so the extruded sheet is denser than the injection molded sheet. By comparison, it is found that if the external tank body is injection-molded, the internal parts of the tank body are directly processed by extruding plates or rods. During use, the injection-molded tank body has obvious swelling and corrosion, but the internal extrusion plate or rod There is no problem with directly processed accessories. This means that although the name of the material is the same, the properties of the injection molded sheet and the extruded sheet are different, and the extruded sheet has better performance.

② The overall wall thickness of the injection molding tank is relatively small. The wall thickness of the injection molding extraction tank will not be too large. Once it is thick, the fluidity will not be good, and it will be difficult to demould. Generally, the thickness of 7 or 8mm is already the limit of injection molding. However, this problem does not exist in mechanical processing (integral milling of block materials), which can be adjusted according to needs, and can be realized with a wall thickness of 10mm or greater.

③ Injection stress cannot be completely eliminated, but can only be improved. For extraction tanks injection-molded by materials with poor toughness (such as PMMA), cracks may suddenly appear in the tank body during the natural stress release process, and this phenomenon occurs randomly and accidentally.

(2) Whole block milling (machining)

Integral block milling (mechanical processing) integral forming process is to use extruded plate as raw material, and mill the inner and outer structures of the extraction tank as a whole through four-axis and five-axis machining centers. This process retains the properties of the extruded sheet (compared to the injection-molded sheet), and the wall thickness can be increased as required to ensure the strength and corrosion resistance of the tank.

4. Motor and stirring paddle

Each stage of extraction tank is equipped with independent adjustable speed in-line motor, driver, control panel, turbine stirring paddle.

The motor is reversible, and the speed range is 0~1500 rpm. The motor is centrally placed outside the exhaust gas collection hood in contact with fresh air, completely separated from the exhaust gas generated during the extraction process, which can effectively prevent the exhaust gas from corroding the motor.

The turbine impeller is usually made of PP material, which is integrally formed and processed. Driven by the motor, the turbo impeller rotates at a high speed. On the one hand, it generates sufficient suction force to provide power for the flow of liquid inside the extraction tank. On the other hand, it ensures that the heavy and light phases are fully mixed and contacted to accelerate the extraction reaction.

5. Interface regulator

The interface regulator (heavy phase weir) adopts a unique spiral structure. By adjusting the height of the spiral adjustment rod, the flow resistance of the water phase is changed, thereby changing the height of the two-phase interface to achieve effective adjustment of the two-phase interface. The design of this structure is infinitely close to the production type extraction tank, so that the small experimental extraction tank can also be used in extreme working conditions such as large or small phases.

6. Deflector and grille

A deflector is set in the clarification chamber, which can not only guide the mixed liquid overflowing from the mixing chamber to the clarification chamber, but also prevent the overflow liquid from disturbing the two-phase clarification and stratification process of the clarification chamber. At the same time, a plurality of grid plates are also provided to break the water-in-oil and oil-in-water droplets, which can effectively prevent the occurrence of emulsification. After years of practice, it has been proved that the combined use of deflectors and grids can effectively reduce the content of water phase components in the oil phase and oil phase components in the water phase.

7. The connection method of the inlet and outlet of the extraction tank

The inlet of the heavy and light phase at the bottom of the submerged chamber and the outlet of the heavy and light phase at the bottom of the clarification chamber are both equipped with precise internal thread interfaces through mechanical processing, and the polypropylene (PP) ferrule joint is used as the connection link. One side of the external thread end of the ferrule joint is connected with the internal thread of the extraction tank inlet and outlet, and the other end is connected with the special transparent PVC material pipe for liquid transportation. This threaded connection ensures that there is no risk of liquid leakage from the extraction tank.

8. Operating platform

The extraction operation platform is a three-layer movable rack made of aluminum alloy profiles, each layer is placed with PP plates, the first layer (top layer) is used to place the extraction tank, and the second layer is used to place the infusion pump (such as peristaltic pump), the third layer (bottom layer) is used to place various reservoirs. After comparison and verification by many customers, in the same operating environment and use time, the stainless steel operating platform is easy to rust and affect the appearance, while the aluminum alloy operating platform has good corrosion resistance, will not rust, is strong, beautiful and durable. The modular docking between two adjacent operating platforms, on the one hand, realizes the rapid docking of circuits and communications, and on the other hand, realizes the rapid disassembly and movement of partial platforms.

9. Environmental protection system

The environmental protection system includes exhaust gas collection hood, fan, LED lighting, etc., which are fixed on the top of the extraction operation platform as a whole. The exhaust gas collection hood is made of aluminum alloy profiles, plexiglass (PMMA) plates, and polypropylene (PP) plates. There are sliding doors on one side of the mixing chamber and one side of the clarification chamber to facilitate sampling and disassembly of the extraction tank. The extraction tank is placed in the waste gas collection hood, and the generated acidic, alkaline and organic waste gas can be collected and discharged by the fan to ensure a healthy and friendly operating environment. There is an LED lighting lamp on the top of the exhaust gas collection cover, which can provide sufficient light for the observation of the extraction experiment phenomenon.

10. Control system

In response to the actual needs of the extraction process, our company has independently developed an embedded integrated control system dedicated to extraction. Each integrated control system is equipped with a 10-inch touch display screen, built-in microprocessor and control program, and controls the motor and peristaltic pump in the system through 485 communication. The control range mainly includes the start and stop of the motor, the speed adjustment, the start and stop of the peristaltic pump, and the flow adjustment. According to the needs of the use, the equipment can be controlled individually or in batches.

4. Site requirements and public works

The overall effect diagram of the example equipment is shown in Figure 1. Each set of mobile extraction operation platform is equipped with 10-level extraction tanks, and 300-level extraction tanks have a total of 30 sets of operation platforms. They are arranged in three rows, and each row is equipped with 10 sets of operation platforms (100-level extraction groove). The required site size is (mm): 25000 (length) * 5000 (width), including the peripheral aisle of the equipment.
